The months of January and February can be a little tough
shopping wise because all of the winter clothing and accessories is put on sale
to make room for the spring collections that will soon be arriving.
It’s tempting to scoop up all the sale items, but you end up
spending money on items that you will only be able to wear for a couple of more
months. Luckily, many “winter” items currently on sale can be great
transitional pieces for the spring when you pair them with the right items.
Here are some examples:
Classic
Crew Neck Long Sleeved Tee by Lord & Taylor
Available in a bunch of colors, this comfy long sleeved basic T can be worn layered with a blazer or cozy vest for winter, and then worn by itself in the spring.

Skimmer Jeans from the Gap
Green is so popular right now, and I don't see that changing any time soon. Pair with a cozy black sweater and boots now, and try pumps and a sparkly black tee for a casual going out look in May.

White Ponte Knit Dress from Banana Republic
Throw on a pair of thick black tights and a pair of pumps to keep warm until spring and then go bare legged with a neutral heel when the weather warms up.
This bootie is so light and neutral that you can easily wear it straight through spring time. Who says boots are only for winter!

I have to say, as an admitted shopaholic, I have trouble
turning down a great sale. Even if the sale item you love won’t work for
spring, you can always buy it now, store it in the back of your closet, and
pull it out next September. Just make sure that what you buy isn’t too trendy
or you run the risk of it being out of style when it’s time to wear it again. I done this with winter boots, wool coats, hats, scarves and vests
in late February when they are practically giving them away.
Happy Shopping!
