Truth be told, I find Valentine's Day to be slightly overrated (OK, really overrated), but the one thing that I do enjoy are the abundance of cookies, cake and candy available to sample.
I'll be using this classic linzer cookie recipe from Alex Guarnaschelli at the Food Network for a work party the day before Valentine's Day. If raspberry jam isn't your favorite, you can always sub in another one.
Obviously, linzer cookies are just the tip of the Valentine's Day iceberg. Check out these other great recipes I found.
The perfect heart-shaped cake without the heart pan. Just choose your favorite cake and frosting recipes and get baking. Love it! This idea is via Bacon Cheese Burger - Sundays.
Colorful sprinkles give these Cabernet Chocolate Truffles from How Sweet It Is a distinctively Valentine's Day feel. Who can say no to wine and chocolate?
These scratch Strawberry Cupcakes from Sally's Baking Addiction look divine and they make for a nice change from red velvet cake, which is always so popular this time of year. If you love the look of these, you may want to check out Sally's cookbook, which comes out next month.
These Cheesecake Deviled Hearts are both festive and super easy to make with no oven required. This great idea comes from Spoon Fork Bacon.
These Conversation Heart Cookies from Martha Stewart are adorable and perfect for a party, but just be warned, getting them baked and frosted is a two-day process.
