Thanksgiving is the busiest travel holiday of the year with millions of American's taking to the road, the rails and the sky to enjoy a holiday meal with friends and family. Most of us will have the pleasure of attending Thanksgiving at someone else's home and when we do, a small gift to thank our hosts for their hospitality and hard work is always a good idea. These are my favorite holiday hostess gifts.
A bottle of wine is always a good idea. If you know that your host enjoys a particular brand of liquor, you can always give them that instead of a bottle of wine. Just remember two things: (1) This isn't the time to be cheap and purchase that bottle on sale for $4.99 (2) Never insist on opening the bottle that you brought. Your host may have taken great care in choosing the wine for the meal and it's rude of you to insist that they open your wine.
A beautifully fragrant candle is a lovely gift because anyone who owns a home will find use for it. I usually stick to high quality candles because I find that really inexpensive ones have scents that are almost overpowering, and no one wants that burning in their home.
After days of prepping and planning for a Thanksgiving meal, most people are all cooked out. A gift card to your host's favorite restaurant gives them an opportunity to enjoy a nice night out.
A gourmet box of chocolates can be a welcome addition to any holiday dessert table or can be saved for your host to enjoy after all the guests have gone home.
The holiday season decor pops up before the Thanksgiving dishes have been finished, so why not give your host a head start on their decorating with a set of festive dish towels or pot holders? When your a person that cooks often, an extra set of towels or pot holders are always welcome.
