With all the technology today, so many of us say our thank you's via text and email, and it is such a let down. I know people are busy, and it's faster to send an email or text, but your are missing the point with those methods of communication!
The point of saying "Thank You" is to take time to acknowledge someone for something. The whole taking time part is writing the note, putting a stamp on it, and dropping it in the mail box. It isn't that hard and it takes less than five minutes.
Another plus of the old fashioned thank you note is the fact that people love to receive them. In the digital age, handwritten notes and letters are few and far between so when you see one in the mail, it's pretty nice. A handwritten note always makes someone feel special, and that alone is reason enough to break out the pen and good paper.
